This 5-week project from my Props and Weapons class at Gnomon involved creating a game asset following prop guidelines. Instead of a traditional prop, I designed a creature inspired by tree frogs and mushrooms, combining both elements into a unique design. With guidance from my instructor, Gabe Cervantes, I was able to bring this concept to life.
The project was rendered in Unreal Engine in real time and animated using blend shapes.
My goal was to make this frog feel as realistic as possible using the traditional game pipeline.
I enjoyed learning about the glass frog and attempting to replicate the effect in the hands and feet.
I was really inspired by micro photography and things like national geographic.
Watching videos of frogs helped me observe their subtle movements and unique characteristics.
It was rewarding to witness this project materialize, and I aim to refine this technique moving forward.
using blend-shapes, I was able to bring life into the character .
