Clanker – Realtime Character

This piece was created during my Advanced Digital Sculpting class at Gnomon, taught by the incredible Paul Gaboury. Over the course of eight weeks, I was tasked with designing and building a full hard-surface mech character inside ZBrush.

The class pushed me to explore techniques I never realized were possible within the software, and it really expanded the way I think about hard-surface workflows. I had a lot of fun learning to balance design, functionality, and detail while making sure the character felt like it could exist in a game world.
The design is largely based on a concept by Daniel Vitti https://www.pinterest.com/pin/523754631685920298/ , though I adapted parts of it to achieve the look and feel I wanted. I was greatly inspired by the droids and mechs from Star Wars aiming for that mix of simplicity and detail that makes the designs so believable and functional.

The final project was made for games and rendered in Blender Eevee realtime engine.
