Lochness Monster – Realtime Creature

This sea monster was created in my second Demo Reel class at Gnomon, drawing inspiration from legendary sea creatures like the Loch Ness Monster and the work of artist Florent Desailly. Developed as part of an ongoing group project, the main goal was to design a creature that could function in a cinematic context while still maintaining grounded, realistic elements. I really enjoyed pushing the fine details of the sculpt, from the layered skin textures to the anatomy, building out believable features that tie into its predatory nature. The creature’s behavior is partly inspired by the remora, a fish that latches onto larger prey — an idea I incorporated into both its design and overall silhouette. This project was taken through a full production pipeline to be game-ready and was rendered in Unreal Engine 5. Created using ZBrush, Substance Painter, Maya, and Unreal Engine 5
